John of God
I just watched a programme on the BBC about the Brasilian Healer, John of God.
I had often heard of and read about this guy. The programme tonight was none too
flattering. They profiled a lady that had gone to see him. She appeared to
have late stage advanced breast cancer. She died ten days later.
In the first instance I know that the BBC weren't going to do him any favours.
Apart from that, the programme raised several issues.
It portrayed him as not actually giving her any hope and didn't perform one of his miraculous invisible healing operations that she really wanted. He said that the entities didn't require it. He proffered nothing further. He told her to go home.
One of his helpers replied to a question earlier from another seeker about the nature of belief. The helper said that belief is a big part of the process. I think the lady with
Breast Cancer had a certain amount but maybe she was overcome with fear...not
altogether sure. I got the feeling that she really wanted to believe but he didn't
really give her a lot of hope.
Another interesting facet of the programme was a segment earlier on when it showed her eating pizza. She obviously wasn't aware of diet, lifestyle, etc.
Not sure what to make of it yet.
