How To Prepare for pH Testing
How To Prepare for pH Testing
Fast from food, beverages and water for two hours before you test your saliva or urine pH. If need some water it may be taken up to one hour before the test.
Anything you put in your mouth will alter the results.
No toothbrushing, gum, mints, cigarettes or cigars for two hours before the test.
Most pH test strips have a range of at least 5.0-9.0. Vaxa International has an easy to read test strip. Find them at

or 1-877-622-8292(VAXA)
You can test at any time of day, just fast before testing. Test your ph twice a day for a few days then take an average, which would give you a better idea of your pH.
Testing Saliva pH
Testing saliva is a good indicator of how acidic or alkaline the tissues above the shoulders may be.
To collect saliva swallow a few times and collect fluid in the bottom of your mouth and transfer it into a clean spoon or container. Place the pH test strip in the saliva for a few seconds making sure the piece of paper on the strip is completely wet. Next Step see Finding Your pH Level.
Testing Urine pH
Testing urine allows us to see what is leaving the body through our urine. Is acid waste leaving your body or storing in your tissues?
If testing after you wake in the morning, urinate and then test your second urination of the morning. Test your urine by collecting a few
ounces of urine in a container. Place the pH test strip in the urine for a few seconds making sure the piece of paper on the strip is completely wet. Next Step see Finding Your pH Level.
Finding Your pH Level
After removing the strip from the fluid being tested let the strip sit for 20-60 seconds (depends on manufacturer). Then compare the color on the strip to the color on the chart that comes with the strips. Don't wait too long to read the strip it can dry out and the color will change.
What Is A Healthy pH Range
Test strip manufacturers specify if your pH is between 6.5 and 7.5 you are in a healthy range. That has to be clarified. If you are taking no supplements or only a multivitamin and maybe some C or E your urine pH should be slightly acidic around 6.5. This means acid is actually leaving the body. If you test over 7.0 and aren't taking a lot of supplements acid is actually storing in your tissues creating a hostile and damaging cellular environment.
If you take a lot of supplements it is important to check your pH levels to make sure you are not becoming too alkaline. If you are taking a lot of supplements aim to keep your saliva and urine at 7.0-7.5 by balancing your supplement intake.
