Re: EDIT.Re: Facts

Hi Chrisb1,

I know you didn't say it was your own work, but therein lies the problem of possible untruths being repeaded on the web. And how accurate is it? Have nutrients depleted by 38% or 30% plus or minus 8%? What were the years, 1955 and 1940, or 1960 and 2010?

If that experiment was conducted, it would have involved a lot of planning and research over 4 decades. Factors to be considered:

Variety of fruit - was the latter batch from the same seed?
Geograplical location
Soil analysis
Weather patterns for the years of the experiment.
Variation in nutritional content across one sample.
Variation in individual nutrients versus soil content
Nutrients - which ones were measured?
Dates of harvest, time delay in taking measurements from harvest. Storage method. Temperature.
What was the analysis method, and did the later research Did the production of both sets of data use the same or different methods?
Importantly, who funded the research?
Has any similar research been carried out?
Where are the results published?
Who were the researchers, are they alive today, and can they be conmtacted?

You may generally believe that nutrients are less, and this may be so in nutrient depleted soil, but lets have some Science rather than opinion!
