Re: Low norepinephrine?

Yoga and Ayurveda have inspired me to get off my meds in the first place. I was so hopeful about being able to function w/o relying on any drugs.
My yoga teacher insists on me stopping all the meds asap and doesn't believe into anything I'm saying about adrenal fatigue or my messed up neurotransmitters...
Generally I agree with your point of view BUT:

I really feel like there is no prana left in my body and I can't do any yoga, pranayama or meditation being off meds. It seems that my body switched to being in the parasympathetic tone all the time. It's very uncommon considering that AF is characterized by increased sympathetic activity usually.

Only advanced yogis can live continuously in the parasympathetic mode and remain healthy. There is a reason why the body has a built in mechanism to increase the sympathetic activity of the ANS to promote survival. If the ANS operates only in the parasympathetic mode - when the levels of catocholamines in the body are very low - it's not compatible with life.

That's what I feel like is happening to me. The best way to describe this would be this: I FEEL LIKE I HAVE NO NERVOUS SYSTEM. I don't feel alive - I have no emotions, desires, interests or even anxiety. Low norepinephrine/dopamine levels match my symptoms, history, risks and even genetics - that's why I'm stuck on the idea. I never had neurotransmitter levels checked out and I based my analysis on my symptoms only.

It's really weird and I have a huge problem explaining what I feel to other people. It's like somebody switched the power off on me. I take stimulants - the power goes back on.
I personally hate the idea of taking an antidepressant again - I'm really tired of all the chemicals but without it I can't even help myself rebalance my endocrine system because I just stop caring. I stay in bed all day and stare at things. How am I supposed to do yoga, do my breathing or eat right if it's that bad?..

Does Ayurveda recognize a condition like that? It would be really interesting to know that.

Thank you for your input.
