Dave, do you generally notice sensitivity after eating spicy foods? That might mean that you can't tolerate capsacsin (sp?), the stuff that makes hot peppers hot.

You might try experementing with liquid extract of the fenugreek herb or drinking a small glass (think demitasse size) of tea made from thyme leaves, but don't drink the thyme tea for more than 10 days at a stretch.

Both are expectorants and will help thin mucus.
