I know this was posted years ago, but just want to mention that the cyst on your knuckle sounds like it was a ganglion cyst, which is a type of cyst that women get more frequently than men due to women's higher need for iodine, which in turn is due to the fact that the breasts, uterus, ovaries all use and need iodine. Ganglion cysts typically show up on the hands and sometimes the ankles and feet (a description on healthline dot com).
